Especially for the big family of band - From Ms Neo HJFlight of Geese - Teamwork

This Fall when you see geese heading south for the winter flying along in V-formation, you might be interested in knowing that science has discovered why they fly that way. As each bird flaps its wings, it creates an uplift for the bird immediately following. By flying in formation, the whole flock adds at least 71% greater flying range than if each bird flew on its own. (People who share a common direction and sense of community can get where they are going quicker and easier, because they are traveling on the thrust of one another.)

Whenever a goose falls out of formation, it suddenly feels the drag of resistance of trying to fly alone and quickly gets back into formation to take advantage of the lifting power of the bird in front. (We should stay in formation with those who are going the same direction.) When the lead goose gets tired, he rotates back in the wind and another goose flies point. (It pays to take turns doing hard jobs - with people or with geese.) The geese honk from behind to encourage those up front to keep up their speed.

Dear Band,

It is a hectic period of time, from now till Apr 10. Hang in there. I am impressed with your strong perserverance. I am touched to see our Sec 5s who decide to come back to assist, but definitely not at the expense of studies. I am happy to see that a large group of you chose to go to the library to study or finish your homework before Fri's practice. Make it a habit to spend any free time you have before band to revise your school work. We are a band which plays hard at the right time and works equally hard in studies and CCA.

Today, I just want to share this video with you. Kindly click on the link below.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-qTiYA1WiY8

After watching the video, do you feel that "nothing is impossible"? Playing music and being part of a marching band is even possible when one is wheelchair bounded. What else can't be achieved?

I hope we all really understand, feel and CREATE what is called "Nothing is Impossible". Like what the video depicts - The music of opportunities & the sound of potential.

Don't Give Up.

With the Band,
Teacher IC
Ms Neo Hui Jun

So orientation over! Very good job everyone! Tiring isn't it. I fell asleep while doing homework. Poor me T_T -.- Ok, so our target was 60 for total. I collated all the names, cancel all the repeated names, and we have 75 sec 1s that signed up. :D But now, what we have to do this, get the sec1s to come for our prac, and make them stay! :D

Yesterday:
The new VP wanted us to move into the shade. So we moved in. And the SJAB was right beside us. Alot people. So some helped out at the booth, while some rehearsing for the performance, some enjoying air con in band room, some enjoying wind at foyer. So I was told a big group of band members went and supported our saxophonist! Good job saxophonist! Later Marcus hor. HAHA, I know you all know what I want to say. Right!! Not suan-ing Marcus now. :) Really. Good job everybody! And thank the supporters! Heard that once our saxophonist finished performing, then all of you left. Its shows how the band members support each other. Its like, the people I want to support finish performing, then I don't want to continue watching already. Some thing like that. I find it cool. ^^

And then the members playing the drums and stuff. Loud man! And then some was shouting "JOIN BAND JOIN BAND" LOL. Nice :D And after that, everything was great and easy. Packing up was fast. Band members are responsible :D We arranged the tables and benches properly ^^ But our shoes outside the band room is not properly arranged -.-

Thank you everyone! For the hardwork! For people who played the instruments, seniors that came back, teachers that helped, people that shouted, people that persuaded the sec 1s.

Weekend now. Enjoy your Sunday tomorrow. :) Rest well. Because..... There's a band prac on Monday!

I'll post this first, so I don't have to on my computer again. :)
Monday band prac 3pm. Attire band tshirt and PE shorts.

VERY IMPORTANT! REMEMBER

TO BRING ONE CHOPSTICK!!!!

REMEMBER!!!!!

If you want to bring 2 of it. Its ok, share :) BRING
CHOPSTICKKKK!

And on Monday Sec 1s are coming :)

Hi band members! Its 2010 already. A new year, a new start. I'm here to blog about tomorrow's band prac! Haha. Don't sulk. Be happy ^^ 4 more months to SYF. No time to lose! And CCA orientation is just this Friday!

Band prac 5/1/2010 - Attire is PE tshirt and PE shorts. Reporting time 3pm at the band room. If your lesson ends late, come after your lesson.

Another thing is... remember to bring your instrument tomorrow! Yes, if it didn't rain today, we don't have to carry our instrument to the netball court tomorrow. Hmm, yeah, too bad. (:

Bring along your cap, towel, sunblock lotion, waterbottle, scores. Yes, formation. No more holiday. We don't have enough time already!

--------

So band members, how's the first day of school? the sec 2s now, streaming year! Work hard!! Sec 3s, what's the feeling of being an upper sec student? Guys with long pants? :D New classmates, new teachers. Adapt fast ok. Sec 3 also not a slacking year leh. Work hard as well! Aim for the top! Sec 4s/5s? O levelllllllllllllll/ N levellllllllll. For me, studying first day of school is so argh. But no choice. ): And assembly was a killer. Mrs Tang's talk was so.... Zzzzz. You can see "Zs" across the hall. LOL, -.-. Ok, don't tell anyone I wrote that.

So everyone just work hard in everything you do! Get help if you have problems :D
See all of you tmr!
